Solar Cell is?

Device that converts light(Solar) energy to electric energy>>Generates photoelectro-motive force by applying photoelectric effect
Material of Solar Cell is Silicon(Si), Gallium-arsenic(GaAs), Cadmium sulfide(CdS) and complex body of these. It makes semi-conductor of p- type and n- type. When these surface is exposed in sunlight, it absorbs photon and generates 1 pair of electron and electron hole. Since electron moves to n- type and electron hole moves to p- type at this time, electric current that moves from n- type to p- type through exterior circuit is generated.
There are various ways for this type: One is to receive sunlight into receiving surface of Solar Cell directly. Two is to concentrate light by using mirror or Fresnel lens. And also there are types that traces sunlight and stationary type.
There are 2 types for traditional Solar Cell which are crystal form and amorphous of Si group. For past 10 years, crystal form which uses single crystal of high degree of purity silicon as material is improved photoelectron convert efficiency for 7~12%. Since its lifetime is also extended 50% and now is 20 years but there is a demerit that the production cost is very expensive.
On the contrary, amorphous silicone only requires one tenth or less of production cost than crystal form. It is very inexpensive but photoelectron convert efficiency is very low.
However, recently research and development to enhance photoelectron convert rate is conducted very lively and its prospect is very bright.
